Competition economics in Poland

December 2015

The Handbook of Competition Economics 2016

The first half of 2015 was rich in reports concerning investigations led by the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection in Poland (the OCCP). The results of three sector inquiries are particularly interesting from an economist’s perspective – the first concerning a potential collusion in the textbook market, the second related to potential predatory pricing in the coal market and the third investigating the pharmaceutical sector. Moreover, three decisions made by the president of the OCCP in recent months are worth noting. All three concern concentrations cleared unconditionally.
