Emmanuel Frot, Vice President Data & Econometrics at Microeconomix gave a presentation at the Concurrences Law & Economics Workshop on Practical approaches in dealing with rebates by dominant suppliers in Brussels on March 17, 2016.
He detailed in his talk a pragmatic effects-based approach to rebates based on economic principles. This approach was put into perspective by comparing it to a per se rule and by looking at the current state of affairs in the rebates case law.
Other participants to the workshop were Sven Albaek, deputy chief economist at DG COMP, and Lourenço Ventura, Assistant Legal Director, Office of the General Counsel at the Competition & Markets Authority. The panel was moderated by Bill Batchelor, partner at Baker & McKenzie.
